Two Tracks, Two Different Profiles
The STIBET scholarship runs two separate categories. They share the same funding amount but target different student situations.
Track 1 — Graduation Scholarship
This track supports final-stage students who are close to finishing their degree. To be considered, you need to be enrolled full-time, have completed most of your required credits, hold good or very good grades, be living in Germany during your thesis period, and expect to submit your thesis within one semester.
The emphasis here is feasibility. The selection committee wants to see that the funding will genuinely help you cross the finish line — not extend your studies indefinitely.
Track 2 — Scholarship for Particularly Committed Students
This track rewards students who combine academic performance with meaningful voluntary contribution to the university community.
Eligible activities include supporting newly arrived international students, participating in buddy programs, or contributing to recognized intercultural and social initiatives. You need at least one completed semester at Anhalt, good or very good grades, and verifiable evidence of your involvement.
Attending university events occasionally doesn’t qualify. The contribution needs to be sustained, documented, and genuinely beneficial to others.

What €1,200 Actually Covers
The scholarship pays €400 per month for three months — €1,200 in total.
This is short-term financial assistance, not a comprehensive funding package. It won’t cover an entire degree, international flights, full rent, or health insurance. Its purpose is more specific: reducing financial pressure during thesis completion or supporting students who are actively giving back to the university community while maintaining strong academic progress.

- Motivation letter (maximum 1,800 characters)
- Academic and examination records from HIS/QIS
- Tabular CV (maximum two pages)
- Passport or identity card copy
- Professor recommendation from an Anhalt University faculty member
- Monthly timetable showing your route to graduation
- Thesis registration evidence or proof of voluntary engagement (where relevant)
One important procedural note: the professor recommendation must be sent directly to the STIBET scholarship administration by the professor themselves. You cannot submit it on their behalf. Incomplete applications are excluded from selection, so confirm your professor has sent their letter before the deadline.
Writing a Motivation Letter That Works
The motivation letter has a 1,800-character limit. That’s short. Every sentence needs to carry weight.
Generic letters focused on financial need don’t perform well here. The selection committee is looking for specific evidence, not broad claims.
For the Graduation Scholarship track, your letter should clearly state your current stage of study, the number of credits completed, your expected graduation date, and how the three months of funding connects directly to finishing your degree. Support this with the monthly timetable showing your research, writing, and submission schedule.
For the Committed Students track, explain your voluntary role specifically: what you did, how long you were involved, who benefited, and what your measurable contribution was. Vague references to “helping international students” aren’t enough. Name the program, describe your responsibilities, and quantify the impact where possible.
The committee assesses academic performance, the realism of your graduation plan, motivation letter quality, and the strength of your professor’s recommendation. Strong applications make a clear, evidence-based case. Weak ones rely on adjectives.

- Your motivation letter stays within the 1,800-character limit
